INFO:
Newly released body camera video shows the moment a 12-year-old boy flagged down a police officer to save his mother from drowning after she drove off the road and into a body of water in West Orange, Texas in July. The video also shows a Good Samaritan who jumped into action as the officer attempted to gain access to the submerged vehicle. Officer Cobb was monitoring traffic in the area on July 24 when he observed a young child running toward him in the roadway, West Orange Police Department said in a letter of commendation given to Cobb. The child stated his mother had a seizure and she needed help. With the “assistance” of Epifanio Munguia, “Officer Cobb was able to rescue driver Jonquetta Winbush from the vehicle who, was unconscious, pulseless, and not breathing,” the letter stated. Cobb performed CPR on the occupant, who eventually regained a pulse and began breathing on her own before EMS arrived. Winbush is still recovering in the ICU, now off the ventilator and breathing on her own.
